Micrurus annellatus

May 23, 2019

This snake hurried out from under my foot and then rested obligingly in the leaves for a moment while I took his picture. Because I didn’t step on him, I am still alive. He is a coral snake, Micrurus annellatus; his venom is a powerful neurotoxin. You can hear my voice in this video, attempting to narrate, but I can understand only the words “snake” and “trail.”
